Catalogue Okimono: Japanese Porcelain Figures from the Edo Period

Client Jorge Welsh Research & Publishing 2022

The art of creating lifelike figures of animals in Porcelain is a testimony of the outstanding Japanese talent and creativity.
The Okimono (decorative sculpture in Japanese) catalogue celebrates a sophisticated range of popular subjects such as human and animal figures, highly appreciated in Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries.
The naturalistic and tactile quality of these unique and exotic pieces constituted the main conceptual drive for the general editorial design. Preference was given to beautiful pictorial detailed photography and also a considerable amount of negative space throughout the book.
